"It may also turn into one of those days for the history books, when civil rights leaders of the future met and truly got politicized."

-THE LA WEEKLY
On November 4, Proposition 8 was passed into law, writing discrimination against gay and lesbian couples into the California State constitution. The following day, thousands of young people flooded the streets of California, and by Nov. 15, the entire nation was in protest. On April 19, thousands of young people will come together at UCLA for 1FEST to not only stand up for marriage equality, but all civil rights! Every community will be represented and all voices will be heard! 1FEST will create a platform for student and political speakers from every community to express their support for marriage equality. Music from powerful local and top performers will take the stage throughout this important day of unity. 1FEST will create an opportunity to stand up for the causes that are important to all of our communities! Action Booths sponsored by student organizations will engage participants in direct actions that will create powerful results! Join us April 19 at 1 pm at UCLA's Wilson Plaza for a day of actions, speeches, music, art, food and fun. This is our day to celebrate coming together and continuing the fight for all civil rights!
